Long term demonstration plots
Forestry has a very long time horizon, and the rotation period for forest trees is typically 60-100 years in the LIFE ForFit geographical region. The project period is eight years only, but it is inherent that data-collection during a full rotation will give the best decision-making tools. The dispute about CNF versus traditional management has to a large extent its point of departure in the lack of these data.
With the establishment of thirty long-term pilot plots in LIFE ForFit, a long-term collection of these data is initiated.
